Since I got my Cricut I have Personalized SO many things, no Joke! So the next Item on my summer to-do list was a personalized towel for each kiddo. I have 3 kids and before I could actually personalize anything I color coded my kids. Purple for the girl child, blue for the middle child and finally green for the little one. This has worked for years but now that I can personalize everything, I do.
Here’s the close up of all three towels, you’ll see this picture again..
This one is simple, like I’ve said I personalize EVERYTHING. Apparently my kids have noticed my slight obsession. While at the pool the other day my daughter asked why their names weren’t on their towels since “you put our names on everything”. So naturally I went home that night and added their names on their towels.
Like any other mom crafting out there, half my mind was on my project and half on the kids shenanigans. There’s three of them, somethings bound to happen throughout the process right? Well, it did. I think I was just rushing trying to get it done and I made an unacceptable booboo.
You see this cute towel with the name so perfect on there? Well..
I put the wrong kids name on the blue towel. Seriously, I did that. I realized my mistake as I was lifting the heat press, I felt so dumb. The Easter bunny gave these towels to my kids two years ago now. I tried to convince the youngest to keep the blue towel but to no avail. This just wouldn’t work.
Can it be fixed?
So, I’ve read about some kind of heat transfer vinyl remover. I didn’t have any of that. I tried peeling it up but since it was on a fluffy-ish towel the HTV melted into every strand, it wasn’t going anywhere. What did I do? I did what I think maybe, anyone would do. I covered it up.
I made a square on design space and sliced the RIGHT name out. I pressed that square on the towel. I picked a nice royal blue that would kind of blend in with the color of the towel so you wouldn’t notice my mistake as much. But every crafter will always see their own mistakes, it can’t just be me right?
Once I got my cover-up done, I layered on his name in lime green so that maybe the name would stand out more than the square.
When I pressed with my heat press for the third time now, I may have done it a little too long because it melted a little bit too much and you can kind of see the yellow on the edges, but overall it seemed to satisfy the seven-year-old.Now, here’s the same picture again, do you see my mistake now? Not every project is going to turn out exactly like you wanted to and that’s OK, overall if the kids are happy, I’m happy. And of course, the other two towels came out without a hitch.
